PESHAWAR: A walk was held to observe World Population Day by the district population welfare department in Peshawar Saddar here on Tuesday.

People from all walks of life including men and women participated in the walk in large number. Peshawar deputy commissioner Saqib Raza Aslam was leading the walk. The walk participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with messages to discourage growth rate of population.

Speaking on the occasion, Saqib Raza Aslam said that problems were increasing due to the increasing growth rate of population. “If it is not reduced, it will drain all our national resources”, he said. He said that the country’s development is impossible without population control. He said that the unabated growth in population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is draining resources. He said that the walk was aimed to create awareness among the masses about the benefits of population control.
