Renowned folk singer from Cholistan, Krishan Lal Bheel passed away at the age of 67 in Rahim Yar Khan.

He was admitted in the hospital for over a week due to kidney illness which turned fatal. His funeral was attended by his students, local community and other folk artists.

Jito Lal Bheel, student of Krishan Lal Bheel while talking to PakVoices expressed sadness and termed it as a national loss. “Krishan Lal Bheel was the face of folk music of Cholistan and this gap will never be filled again”, he said.

Krishan Lal Bheel had appealed to the government many times to restore monthly financial assistance however he was not assisted.

Krishan Lal Bheel had been performing since 1970 and represented Pakistan in many countries. He was also a recipient of the President’s Pride of Performance Award.

Krishan often performed in his native language Marwari as well as in many other languages including Hindi, Sindhi, Punjabi, Urdu, Saraiki, Registani and Rajasthani.

Krishan Lal Bheel was laid to rest in a village near Rahim Yar Khan.
