This is the bridge from where the man jumped in after pushing his children.

A man threw his four children into Abbasia Canal in Rahim Yar Khan district in Southern Punjab and then jumped in himself on Friday early morning, police said.

According to eyewitnesses, the father pushed his four children before jumping in himself. Some locals tried to rescue them but the waves of the canal swept them quickly.

Local police officials said that the man committed suicide over domestic issues with his wife.

The rescue operation is still underway to recover the remaining missing children and the man.

The operation is underway to recover the man and the missing children, said Rescue 1122.

One of the children, Sania, 9, was rescued after 10 hours by rescue swimmers of Rescue 1122. Another three-year-old child has been recovered dead.

The chances of rescuing any other survivors are diminishing as more than 11 hours have passed the incident.

Ghulam Yaseen, a resident of Bagho Bahar in Rahim Yar Khan, had married a woman of Haroonabad, where he had lived at the house of his in-laws. However, after developing a difference with his wife he took four of his children back to his house a couple of days ago.
