Rampant cheating is being reported at the various centers of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam in the district Tharparkar.

In the whole district, 21 centers have been set up in total for conducting the exams of 9th and 10th class under Mirpurkhas Board.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah had taken notice of the increasing cases of impersonation across Sindh province issuing an alert to crack down on it.

According to the reports, the candidates were openly copying in the examination centers during the annual board examination of SSC in Mithi, Diplo, Kaloi, Chachro and Nagarparkar of district Tharparkar. Similar reports are coming from other centers of the SSC examination in the province.

Partab Shivani, a senior teacher, told PakVoices how students were using unfair means without any check from the police or inspection teams. He sent us a photo showing people jumping over the wall to provide cheating material to the students taking SSC exam.

Kamla Poonam, a well-known educationist based in Mithi, said that some improvement has been made from the previous exam as mobile phones have not been allowed this time inside the examination center.

However, cheating is still on as being reported from various centers, she said adding, “Students are using other unfair means to do cheating during the paper such as they get solved copies of the papers as the questions are leaked just half an hour before the paper starts.”

She also pointed out, “Teachers facilitate students in copying as they get rewarded with cash or other benefits.”

Due to this rampant cheating, she does not accept any assignment of invigilation during the board exams. “I never perform invigilation duty for the SSC exams because the administration is a partner in crime in promoting the culture of cheating across the district.”
