Six more children died in Tharparkar, a district of Sindh, taking the total death toll to 152 this year.
According to the Civil Hospital, Mithi, sources, the latest deaths occurred at the hospital, where most of the children were brought from the remote areas of the district.
On Monday, two children died taking the death toll to six during the last three days.
So far 152 children have died of malnutrition this year in the district, health department sources confirm.


In April this year, the Chief Justice of Pakistan took Sou Moto notice on the increasing number of deaths of children in Tharparkar.

According to the report issued by the District Health Office in April 2017, 9,187 children under the age of five years were admitted to six health facilities in the district. Out of which, so far, 98 children had died of malnutrition while 145 children with a serious condition were referred to the hospitals in Hyderabad and Karachi.

Earlier, the district health officer Dr. Akhlaq Ahmad had said that he did not have any update on those referred children whether they survived or died in the hospitals.
