This hospital is functional only in name as it lacks even basic facilities.

These are the scenes from an apparently functional hospital in Turbat which is lacking even basic health facilities.

At a distance of 40 kilometers from Turbat, tehsil headquarters hospital Baleeda that consists of merely two rooms, with only one doctor available and a paramedic. Due to which people have to travel to Turbat city or other cities even for minor treatment.

Younas Baloch a social worker from Baleeda told Pak Voices, “The hospital located in Suloo Baleeda was established about 20 years ago for a population of about 10,000. There is only one male doctor and a nursing staff in the hospital.”

The hospital’s building is also in poor condition with no boundary wall.

People in the area face a lot of difficulties due to the poor condition of the hospital.

According to Abdul Khaliq, another resident of Suloo Baleeda, “the hospital has been in pitiable condition for a long time but no one has paid attention to its problems. The patients neither get better health facilities nor are provided free medicines.”

In this regards, we contacted District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Sajjad Baloch who said, “We are doing our best with the limited resources we have. We get free medicines as per our quota after three months. But due to an increase in population and lack of funds, it is impossible to provide free medicines to every patient.”
