Cellular services have been suspended in various cities of Sindh and Punjab on the occasion of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), cellular services have been suspended at the request of the Interior Ministry to maintain law and order during the observance of the Chehlum of Imam Hussain.
According to news report, Cellular and internet services are suspended in Saddar, Clifton, Defence, North Karachi, New Karachi, Ancholi, Liaquatabad, Gulbahar Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, and Malir and other areas of Karachi. Services are also suspended in Hyderabad, Thatta, Dadu, Sujawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Rohri, and Larkana.
Earlier, the Punjab Home Department has requested the federal government to partially suspend mobile services in 10 districts including Rawalpindi, Jhang, Layyah, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Chakwal and Toba Tek Singh during the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) on August 26.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his loyal companions is being observed today with deep religious respect, honouring their ultimate sacrifices for the sake of Islam. Across the country, mourning processions are taking place in various cities and towns, paying tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.
