Senior nationalist leader Mir Aslam Buledi and PML-N’s nominee for National Assembly constituency NA-258 (Turbat-Panjgur), was seriously hurt in an armed attack in Turbat town.
Former senator and provincial minister of agriculture Mr. Buledi was attacked while out for a walk in the evening in a nearby park. Unidentified gunmen on motorbikes carried out the attack, shooting Mr. Buledi with an AK-47 automatic weapon before escaping the scene.
Hassan Jan Bloch, the deputy commissioner for Kech, stated, “The former senator received four bullets.” He went on to say that security and law enforcement officers raced to the scene and took the hurt PML-N candidate to Turbat Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
Considering how serious Mr. Buledi’s injuries were, plans were in place to transfer to Karachi for advanced treatment, Mr Baloch said.
No individual or group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Recently, Mir Aslam Buledi joined the PML-N while party chief Nawaz Sharif and other leaders were in Quetta. The ticket for the NA-258 party was given to Mr. Buledi.
Mr. Buledi, a former National Party member, had been elected as an MPA and senator but had mostly stopped participating in politics in recent years. He is the father-in-law of Turbat-based PPP leader and provincial assembly candidate Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi.
Provincial ministers, political party leaders, and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Domki all vehemently denounced and labelled the attack on Mr. Buledi as a “terrorist attack.”
